At Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital, we have implemented the evidence-based practice of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). We have created an environment of care that is non-institutional and supports this clinical approach to our patients. Trauma Informed Care is treatment that recognizes the prevalence of trauma in our patients. Overall, the main goal of TIC is to provide patients with caring treatment that does not in any way inadvertently re-traumatize.
The unfortunate fact is that many more patients than not who we serve have experienced some form of trauma, and many of the maladaptive behaviors that they exhibit are the result of such experiences. Many patients who have been through the mental health system identify being "re-traumatized" during their stay in mental health facilities. Brooke Glen's focus is on breaking away from this cycle of re-traumatization to promote a secure environment for quick recovery.
